Movie Review: The Hunger Games, Mockingjay (Part 1)
written on Sunday, 23 November 2014 @ 06:54 ✈

To be honest, I was not a big fan of The Hunger Games series. Not until I watched The Catching Fire, which is the second book of the series. So I saw the Mockingjay (part 1) movie last week and it was INCREDIBLE. Katniss Everdeen, as always, never been cooler. I love how the story turned out as it flows to the end. Like how the characters grew throughout the movies and when it revealed that there was a bigger plot behind the Games. I love how it shows the rebellion started with a "spark", which refers to the Mockingjay, and a teenager. As in deeper meaning, it kind of showed us that teenagers are hope to a nation. It's very interesting. It's a shame I haven't read the whole book series.

The movie started with Katniss being in District 13, where all the rebels live, and she was having a mental breakdown. The whole movie was more about war and how the rebels fight against the Capitol. Mockingjay is very different from its previous two movies because there is no Games. I remember when I just finished watching The Catching Fire and that Peeta was abducted by the Capitol, I was so depressed because I needed to know what happen to Peeta so I tried to read the Mockingjay the very next day (but then I had exams and stuff so I temporarily ditched the book). After I watched the Mockingjay, that intense need to read that dang book came back. So yeah, it took me about seven hours to finish the book. If you've watched the movie then you'll probably understand what I mean because the ending was just...ERGHHH. It's been three days and I'm still emotionally unstable. Thanks Francis Lawrence, you destroyed me.

I didn't like Peeta at first, to be frankly. Not until the second movie. I though he was weak but then he turned out to be a fearless and very likeable person. So after I watched what he became in the third movie, my heart broke. In the end he became the only thing he never wanted to be, another piece in Capitol's game. The hijacked Peeta looked so sad and hurt and seeing him like that absolutely killed me. Sometimes I find myself staring into blank space and think how the thing that we love most will destroy us. *long sigh* Not to mention Josh Hutcherson performance was mind-blowing and very very convincing like dude, nobody else can play Peeta better than this guy. Gale...ugh Gale. Surprisingly I started to dislike Gale after he called Peeta a "coward". But I love both Liam and Josh, they're so talented. But seriously, you have no idea how stressed I am now I have to wait another year until their next movie.
