Looking For Alaska Movie?
written on Friday, 1 August 2014 @ 06:53 ✈
Since the most anticipated movie of the year, The Fault in Our Stars, came out as a movie and received great reviews by the audience and the book's fans, Green's books had gained a lot of attention by other filmmakers. This include his first Young Adult novel, Looking For Alaska. So behold, John Green's fans, this too is becoming a movie! As a self-claimed fan of John Green, I was really excited when I heard about the news. To be honest, Looking For Alaska is one of my favourites and I'm really looking forward to watch this on screen.
I've been wondering who's going to be the casts for this movie. Who's going to play Alaska? Who's going to play Miles? Man, I so want to know. I did some Googling to see if there is any casting rumors but so far there's none, no progress (besides the poster). But some names from the fans cast lists did stick with me and I think they do have the potential to play the roles. I read the novel about two years ago, I always imagined Miles as someone who is skinny, clueless about what's happening around him, somewhat a nerd (an adorable nerd). My idea of Miles is he is not categorized as 'good-looking' but still cute. He's an average college kid who is obsessed with people's "last words".
Devon Bostick as Miles 'Pudge'
(okay forget that i said he's not good-looking)
What about Alaska Young? One person that I see fit to play this role is Kaya Scodelario. She's perfect. Casting agents, stop looking. This is the girl. I always see Alaska as someone troubled, messed-up, wild, and moody, but beautiful (how to describe someone that is broken but beautiful? well, that's what she is). She likes to smoke, like she said in the novel, "Y'all smoke to enjoy it, I smoke to die." Kind of showing that she's a little bit self-destructive. The way I see Miles and Alaska is that she is out of his league. Like she is Fiji water, and he is tap water. Or she's a hurricane and he's just drizzle (yes it's from the book). Oh yeah, and she raps.
Kaya Scodelario as Alaska Young
Chip a.k.a The Colonel is Alaska's best friend and Mile's roommate. I see him as a soldier (like his nickname), has muscular body, short, and also takes honesty and trust very seriously. Always comes up with mischievous plans and act as the leader of the group. Josh Hutcherson would be perfect for this role, I guess. I think he also had a little crush on Alaska, but at the same time a loyal friend to her. Chip came from a poor family, his mother lives in a small trailer where they live together when he's not at school.
Josh Hutcherson as Chip 'The Colonel'
Takumi is kind of the odd one out, a jokester of the group, and he tries very hard to be accepted. He's also a great rapper. Since he's a best friend of Chip, he's also a good prank planner. Though he always feel left out of their plans, which angers him a little. My ideal Takumi would be Aaron Yoo. I rarely seen him in movies (saw him once in Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist he was in a band and also gay), but I think he could fit the role. I just hope he can rap.
Aaron Yoo as Takumi
Lara is a cute Russian girl who is a good friend with the rest of the group. She speaks with her Russian accent, funny, seductive without knowing it, flirty, and she'd do anything for the group. She was, for a short time, Miles' girlfriend.
Emily Browning as Lara
Well, we'll just see how they decide to do this. I just hope Hollywood will not mess this one up. I have high expectation on this. You better not disappoint me.

Hi! So there's nothing much going to be around here. I read a lot. I read almost everything that has print on it. Everything from flowery romance to pretentious fiction to poetry. If you came here to stalk on my activities, then you've came to the wrong place. There's a special place for that but I'm not gonna speak of it here. Here is the place where I rant about books (mostly), musics, tv shows, movies, foods, and my personal opinion about all kind of stuff which I would like to share. I don't really share in real life, especially food. But I'll make this an exception (i'll share the pictures of food). So if you don't mind reading my rambles, fair warning; you may not be able to understand a single word I'm going to say because of my overflowing emotions. But just take the chance anyways. Oh this isn't a diary, just so you know.
