Book Review : Every Day
written on Saturday, 25 May 2013 @ 10:28 ✈
Title : Every Day
Author : David Levithan
Publisher : Knopf Books for Young Readers
Published Date : August 28, 2012
Description from Goodreads : There’s never any warning about where it will be or who it will be. A has made peace with that, even established guidelines by which to live: Never get too attached. Avoid being noticed. Do not interfere.
It’s all fine until the morning that A wakes up in the body of Justin and meets Justin’s girlfriend, Rhiannon. From that moment, the rules by which A has been living no longer apply. Because finally A has found someone he wants to be with—day in, day out, day after day.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
This is simply one of my favorite books. Just after I read a few pages, I fell in love with it instantly. This book is very intriguing. Every day the main character, A, wakes up in someone else's body. A does not really have a specific gender, based on what I read. A tried not to disturb the life of the person whose body he's borrowing, until he met Rhiannon and fell in love with her. Every day, different body, the same girl. The story is utterly fascinating. A totally understands the feeling of being in someone else's shoes. It truly shows how lonely it is not to be connected to everyone else, and even if you managed to make friends, they're gone the next day, and you never look forward for anything except whose body you're going to inhabit tomorrow. It's tragic.
And the plot line is very interesting. The suspense kept me turning page. I remember that it took me like 4 to 5 days to finish this book. Each chapter, different person. I imagined myself if I were A, would I do the same for love? The story makes me reflect on many things. We get sick and tired of normalcy, even so they are still something we look forward to in life.
“I am a drifter, and as lonely as that can be, it is also remarkably freeing. I will never define myself in terms of anyone else. I will never feel the pressure of peers or the burden of parental expectation. I can view everyone as pieces of a whole, and focus on the whole, not the pieces. I have learned to observe, far better than most people observe. I am not blinded by the past or motivated by the future. I focus on the present because that is where I am destined to live.”
Although, the ending part is like a stab in the heart. I wonder if there is a sequel because I really want to find out what happen later to them. Overall, Levithan managed to capture my heart through his writing. I'm glad I've read it. So if you love contemporary book with some paranormal twist, this one is for you.

Hi! So there's nothing much going to be around here. I read a lot. I read almost everything that has print on it. Everything from flowery romance to pretentious fiction to poetry. If you came here to stalk on my activities, then you've came to the wrong place. There's a special place for that but I'm not gonna speak of it here. Here is the place where I rant about books (mostly), musics, tv shows, movies, foods, and my personal opinion about all kind of stuff which I would like to share. I don't really share in real life, especially food. But I'll make this an exception (i'll share the pictures of food). So if you don't mind reading my rambles, fair warning; you may not be able to understand a single word I'm going to say because of my overflowing emotions. But just take the chance anyways. Oh this isn't a diary, just so you know.
